The site is located at Wenshan District Mucha Zoo. Taipei Zoo was originally located on the Yuanshan hill but was moved to Mucha in 1986. At the time Taipei was under the influence of urban expansion , hindering the Maruyama Zoo from its continued grow , and as a result, the zoo decided to move In order to offer the animals a natural , more comfortable living environment.The installation of the MRT system and the gradual construction of infrastructures slowly made  Mucha region’s natural inaccessible terrain a more convenient and quality place to be in.

The development of Mucha is bound to face a similar predicament as Maruyama , allowing the  opportunity to experiment on the layout pattern of the zoo ; the creation of a new ecological system from the cohabitation between us and animals by the integration of the zoo into our urban environment. The result will be the disappearance of the typical boarders of a zoo, merging with the city as the urban fabric continues to expand.

原本臺北市立動物園位於圓山上，民國75年因台北的城市發展、園山腹地不足無法擴建而遷至木柵，希望能給動物更自然、更舒適的生活環境。但木柵地區本身就因地形的限制導致交通不便，直到捷運開通、基礎建設的興建，才慢慢改善生活品質。

木柵地區的發展勢必會面臨與圓山相似的狀況，因此試著改變動物園的型態。藉由將動物園生態與城市整合在一起、將動物帶入人的生活環境中，並利用自然生態創造出一個系統，使兩者能夠共生。未來動物園形式將消失，進而融入人的空間、與城市結合，而城市發展也朝向動物園發展，使兩者能夠互相共存。
